CEO Update
Ansearch is an exciting and innovative new media company, well positioned to play a major role in the online media space both regionally and globally.
Recognising that future growth in new media will be driven by significant online adoption by small to medium businesses (SME’s), strategically our focus is helping those SME’s do “better business online”. The unique and diverse skills within Ansearch allow our SME customers to build, promote and profit from their online activities.
Over the past eight weeks the Executive team of Damian Element (CFO & Company Secretary), Andrew Beecher (Head of Webfirm and Searchworld), Josh Edis (Head of Media - Search) and myself have carried out a strategic review of the business and its operation.
Our initial goal is to return the business to profit and positive cash flow as soon as possible. This is being achieved through:
-
A clear strategy for the business, defining our operational boundaries;
-
The termination of projects and resources not considered as core to our strategy;
-
A tight focus on operating cost reduction, assisted through the growth of operational efficiencies; and,
-
The growth of long-term sustainable revenue.
To drive this strategy Ansearch has been re-structured into four operating business units:
Ansearch Media - Display: (Previously known as Soush and ads-alliance) , this unit’s focus is the representation of on-line publishers’ advertising inventory to media buyers and agencies. Effectively, we sell the advertising space on these websites and retain a share of the revenue. The unique Ansearch strategy is to focus on representing the overseas websites that Australian Internet users visit. We are continually building our portfolio of highly trafficked international websites. Our recently announced exclusive Navteq contract is also operated through this unit and represents digital maps as a new media opportunity to agency buyers.
Ansearch Media – Search: We remain one of the few Australian companies with the rights to distribute both Google and Yahoo Search Marketing advertising feeds to Australian and international publishers. We enable our publisher customers to monetise their websites by providing advertising feeds for display on their websites. Visitors to the websites who click on an advertisement then generate revenue which we share a percentage of with the customer. In addition, we operate several unique and popular search engines such as www.ansearch.com.au and www.anzwers.com.au where the key focus is the growth of our visitors search queries and the monetisation of these queries through advertising feeds.
Webfirm: provides small and medium size businesses with websites specifically designed to drive new customers and sales. These custom built websites are fully optimised to be well positioned in the most frequented search engines. In addition Webfirm have a continuing revenue stream from the ongoing hosting and management of these sites. The Webfirm business model has been developed over the past seven years and just last week we announced the expansion of this business to Melbourne in July 2008. Over 95% of the current Webfirm revenue is from Perth based SME’s. The expansion to Melbourne and beyond gives us the opportunity to tap into the much larger eastern states SME’s.

Searchworld: was previously operating inside Webfirm but it is in the process of expanding as a stand-alone business unit. Searchworld provides SME’s with Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) and Search Engine Marketing (SEM) services. The Search Engine Optimisation and Search Engine Marketing services equip SME’s with the tools and techniques needed to successfully promote their websites in major search engines. A new Internet based tool that allows SME’s to easily participate in managed “do it yourself” Search Engine Marketing will be launched shortly.
Following a weak, but encouraging December quarter, Ansearch’s third quarter has experienced month on
month improvement. We expect the last quarter of this Financial Year and the first quarter of next Financial Year to show substantial improvements as we head to our goal of profitability and positive cashflow.
I remain extremely confident that Ansearch has a bright future and I look forward to meeting many of our loyal shareholders during our April presentations.
