Computershare Founder Chris Morris joins Webfirm Board
20[th] September, 2010
Webfirm Group Limited (ASX:WFM; ‘Webfirm’) today announced that Computershare founder Chris Morris has joined the company’s board as a non-executive director.
Mr Morris is among Australia’s most accomplished entrepreneurs and business leaders, having founded Computershare (ASX:CPU) in 1978 – one of Australia’s most successful global technology companies.
Mr Morris was Chief Executive Officer of Computershare from 1990 to 2006, and Executive Chairman from 2006. He retired as an executive of Computershare last week but remains as Chairman.
Mr Morris has extensive knowledge of the securities industry from both a national and international perspective, and his diverse experience in building and managing large global enterprise will aid Webfirm in its international expansion aspirations.
Webfirm Group Executive Chairman Adrian Giles said: “Chris brings exceptional understanding of the needs of growing companies, their investors and stakeholders. His knowledge and experience of growing Australian IT companies to be global will be of great assistance with our plan for international expansion of the Adslot business.
“As a major investor, he knows Webfirm well. His decision to join the board is a great endorsement of the company’s strategy and prospects.”
Mr Morris said: “Webfirm’s board and management team have an exciting vision which is already coming to fruition. I am delighted to contribute my expertise, networks and guidance to help drive the Webfirm success story.”
Mr Morris became a Webfirm Group shareholder in July, 2009 and is now the largest shareholder in the Company. He recently took up 36% of the $7.5 million placement in Webfirm, and currently holds 56,900,080 shares in Webfirm Group.
Mr Morris’ appointment is effective immediately and brings the number of Webfirm Group directors to six, joining Executive Chairman Adrian Giles; CEO David Burden; Executive Directors Andrew Barlow and Anthony Du Preez; and Non-executive Director Adrian Vanzyl.
