Appointment of CEO and Director
Ansearch Limited (ASX: ANH) today announced that Mr David Burden has been appointed as CEO and as a Director of the company, effective immediately.
David Burden (46) is an entrepreneur and one of the true pioneers of interactive marketing and services within Australia. David founded Australia's largest and best-recognised interactive and mobile services company Legion Interactive in 1994.
Legion Interactive developed a suite of first to market products that enabled the media and marketers to utilse emerging interactive and digital platforms to allow them to interactively communicate with their market. During this time as CEO of Legion Interactive he oversaw many market changing firsts including television voting on Big Brother and Australian Idol, School VCE and HSC results delivered by SMS, Interactive Telephone Weather Services for the Bureau of Meteorology, Coca Cola’s first SMS campaign called Summerdays and a mobile tutorial delivered over 3G video calling for Telstra.
As CEO from 1994 to 2006, David spearheaded the evolution and growth of the product, the growth of the sales and marketing and Research & IT Development teams, and guided the business through it’s MBO from the French Lagardere Group in 2001, the acquisition of BlueSkyFrog (Australia’s first mobile ringtone company) and MediaZoo and the subsequent push of the business into the mobile space commencing in 1998.
Legion Interactive grew over 14 years to become one of the most recognised global interactive service innovators with over 120 staff. David led the sale of Legion Interactive to the Photon Group (ASX:PGA) in 2004 and was subsequently appointed as Photon’s Digital and Interactive Pillar CEO and as the Executive Chairman of Legion Interactive, which eventually merged under his guidance with SEE to form a new company called “belong”.
During his time at Legion, David was a worthy Industry Activist with leading roles on the Premium Rate Advisory Council (PRAC), the TISSC and the Vice Chairman of ADMA. David also founding Chairman of ADMA’s Mobile Marketing Council which was primarily responsible for the introduction of regulation and consumer protection for mobile services.
David studied Engineering at RMIT and was recently awarded as Australia’s 2007/8 Mobile Marketer of the Year recognising his contribution to the industry over the past 19 Years.
