Following the launch of the Adslot Publisher product in October of last year, the Company’s key strategic focus for 2013 has been to sign a diverse catalogue of premium publishers to our platform. The number of publishers signing on to Adslot continues to grow strongly and we expect this trend will continue.
Over the past 6 months we have started to see more and more commentary in the industry about the movement of publishers towards automating the process of buying and selling online display advertising. This is partly being driven by publishers needing purpose built technology to increase efficiency around reducing their cost of revenue, but it is also now being driven by the advertisers and ad agencies who are stating that they want to move towards buying media programmatically. Which simply means, using technology like Adslot.
We have been positioning ourselves for the last few years to capitalise on this movement. What we know from this is that the industry is moving in our direction. What of course we don’t know yet, is how quickly they will move. We are continuing to innovate and stay ahead of the curve so that - as a company - we are increasingly relevant, we are adding to our strategic value, and are in the best possible position to capitalise when the transition of display media spend shifts en masse to programmatic channels.
Part of that innovation was the creation and launch of the Adslot marketplace . Significant effort this year went towards the development of a marketplace technology that allows advertisers and agencies to profile, plan and purchase premium display inventory across multiple Adslot publishers simultaneously. Ian Lowe will be demonstrating that marketplace for us today.
In order for us to generate the scale required to create sufficient liquidity in that marketplace, we also need to work to establish partnerships with companies and technologies that already work with large advertising agencies and large publishers. Advertising agencies in particular control a significant majority of the demand for online display advertising, and so capturing this demand through partnerships is crucial to the success of the Adslot business.
The acquisition of Facilitate Digital is one key example of this. Facilitate have a global footprint and a significant amount of premium ad spend already moving through their platform. Combining the two businesses provides large buyers and sellers the most accessible, lowest friction environment possible to enable that ad spend to start to flow into Adslot’s marketplace of publishers.
We are confident that we have the right product and the right strategy to create a globally significant business as the advertising world moves towards us. We are starting to see signs of this movement already and I believe that as the scale of our opportunity emerges Adslot is extremely well positioned and our patience will be rewarded.
I’d also like shareholders to note that this is my last AGM as Chairman as I am passing the position to Andrew Barlow from today. I will remain a passionate and committed nonexecutive director of the company. Thankyou.
