Chairman Address
The past 12 months have been a time of considerable and positive change for Webfirm. The current Board of Directors have worked hard to reshape this business since taking control some two years ago with a great deal of corporate improvements and divestment or realignment of under performing business units, all with the core aim of providing a solid foundation on which to build an exciting global business.
Once we felt the corporate and business foundations of Webfirm were appropriate we made our first key acquisition of the Adslot business. The Adslot business provided the key pillar of our future global strategy. We wanted to build a business that could be unique and globally relevant and operate in a space that could provide significant upside for shareholders.
The patented advertising sales automation technology that underpins Adslot is capable of changing the way that advertising is bought and sold. And not just Internet advertising, but any media from television to radio and outdoor. This allowed us to build a business that could play a part in the total worldwide advertising spend being a more than US$420Billion opportunity.
Our initial focus was to prove the technology was applicable on the Internet and specifically to the display advertising that’s run on major classified portals. Our first cornerstone deal with the REA Group, one of the world’s largest and most successful classified portals who operate realestate.com.au here in Australia, is an initial step towards positive validation of this technology. More recently the deal with Carsales.com.au provided even further validation.
We have also recently announced a number of other acquisitions including the Adimise business and if approved today, QDC Technologies, that together provide Webfirm with the necessary pieces of technology to create an entire advertising marketplace to extend the value and reach of the Adslot technology within our clients businesses.
Due to the early success of our Adslot technology we have also taken the step to fast track its global expansion and recently closed a capital raising to provide sufficient funds to take the
business into Europe and the US. The business is now well placed with $22.5M in the bank; we are continuing to hire out a strong management team, and the CEO David Burden and Adslot Co-Founder Anthony DuPreez have just completed a 2 week trip around Europe visiting 9 countries to explore the potential of Adslot across Europe.
I would like to thank the staff and board of Webfirm for their tireless efforts over the last 12 months as well as the many shareholders who continue to patiently support this company.
The road ahead for this business will not be easy, and it is certainly a long one, but the rewards for patience and successful execution are very significant. I look forward to continuing to report on that success in the months and years ahead.
