Update on Permit Approvals at the Lumberton Site

Active Energy, the London quoted international biomass based renewable energy business, announces an update regarding its activities at its commercial hub located in Lumberton, USA ("Lumberton" or "the Lumberton Site").

On 25 September 2019 AEG announced that it had applied for the relevant air and environmental permits (the "Permits") from the North Carolina Department of Environment and Natural Resources ("NCDENR"), which are required ahead of commencing the commercial production of CoalSwitch™.  All the application formalities have been completed and the NCDENR confirms that it is continuing to review the Company's application.  Once the Permits have been awarded, the Company will commence construction of the reference plant to produce up to 5 tonnes per hour ("tph") CoalSwitch™.

At the same time, AEG continues to work with its partners, including Andritz, on plans to construct and produce facilities for larger production volumes up to 50 tonnes per hour of CoalSwitch™ at the Lumberton Site and with its new Licensee, RMD Environmentals Inc., regarding opportunities in the Crown Provinces of Alberta and British Columbia in Canada.

Active Energy CEO, Michael Rowan said, "Having submitted all the relevant documentation, we are positioned to commence construction of the initial 5tph CoalSwitch™ reference plant at Lumberton once we receive the final permits.  In the meantime, we're making good progress across the business, looking to utilise the Lumberton Site for complementary lumber activities and planning for the scale up to the 50tph CoalSwitch™ facility."
