Appointment of Alex Finn to the Board

The Board of abrdn Asia Focus plc is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr Alex Finn as an independent non-executive Director of the Company and Chairman of the Audit Committee with effect from 13 July 2022. Mr Finn was a partner for 27 years in PwC's global financial services practice, retiring on 30 June 2022. During his career at PwC Mr Finn was responsible for the services that PwC provided internationally to a number of its largest global clients, all of which had extensive operations in Asia.  He was also responsible for supporting clients in large scale accounting and financial change programmes, was PwC's EMEA insurance leader, sat on its EMEA FS leadership team and led a number of PwC's largest global audit engagements.

"As part of our ongoing succession plans, on behalf of the Board, I am delighted to welcome Alex to the Board.  Alex has been appointed as Chairman of the Audit Committee with immediate effect and his significant accounting expertise and international business experience will be very beneficial to the Company."

In accordance with Listing Rule 9.6.13 (1):

Mr Finn is currently a director of Cembra Money Bank AG, which is listed on the SIX in Switzerland and has not in the last five years been a director of any other publicly listed companies.

Mr Finn does not have a beneficial interest in any Ordinary shares of the Company.

In relation to Mr Finn's appointment, there is no additional information required to be disclosed in accordance with Listing Rules 9.6.13 (2) - (6).
