AAK's new 2012/2013 Sustainability Report, "Responsible Growth"

AAK has released its 2012/2013 Sustainability Report, "Responsible Growth" in which the company outlines its sustainability commitments, key achievements and initiatives across the company.

Arne Frank, CEO at AAK explains that sustainability is an integrated part of the company's growth strategy; "Our responsible growth model guides our global and local organizations in their daily lifes and in their pursuit of business growth. We expect, all in AAK to have a continued and strong focus on the sustainable sourcing of raw materials, resource efficiency and employee safety. Responsible growth is a key part of our way of doing business".

AAK´s model for responsible growth covers the following five focus areas: Marketplace, Supply chain, Environment, Workplace and Community, and the report presents the key achievements within each of these areas. Some examples of progress during the year are:

  • 6.4 percent reduction of our total direct CO2 emissions per processed unit compared to last year
  • 13 percent decrease in total waste compared to last year
  • Work safety, 25 percent decrease in lost days rate compared to last year

The report also includes an update on the progress within AAK´s work together with women's groups in Burkina Faso, where 30,000 women will be engaged in AAK's program by the end of 2013.

Throughout the report, AAK employees tell about responsible growth initiatives and managers share their insights in specific areas of responsibility. The report also includes external testimonials from some of AAK´s key stakeholders.
