Preliminary perspectives on 2017/2018 results

  • Net loss to be expected for the fiscal year 2017/2018
  • The Company pursues its efforts to:
  • o refocus future slate to align with company's historical successes
  • o expand existing franchises

Saint-Denis, October 24th, 2017 – EuropaCorp is expected to record a net loss for the half-year 2017/2018 and for the full fiscal year 2017/2018.

The expected loss is the continuation of the effects of the disappointing US box-office revenues already announced for last financial year. In particular, despite a worldwide box-office exceeding 225 million dollars to date, the performance of Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets in the US has been disappointing.

The Company anticipates a return to a more dynamic growth in FY 2018/2019 with promising films and television series such as the 5th instalment of Taxi, Kursk, and Anna - the next film directed by Luc Besson which starts production this October. These projects are at the core of the Company's new strategy focusing on expanding existing franchises and realigning its content strategy with EuropaCorp's DNA: modestly budgeted action and thriller genre films.

The Company is also continuing its efforts to reduce activities in non-core businesses and resize overheads to be more consistent with the volume of film and television series activity.
