Imerys announces the appointment of Patrick Kron as new Chairman of the Board of Directors

The Board of Directors of Imerys, which met today, has decided to co-opt Mr. Patrick Kron as a new independent director and appoint him to the position of Chairman of the Board of Directors, with effect from this day.

Mr. Patrick Kron succeeds Mr. Gilles Michel. Mr. Gilles Michel had chosen in May 2018, for personal reasons, to step down as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Imerys, and had agreed to retain the position of Chairman of the Board of Imerys for a transition period.

The Board of Directors, on behalf of the Imerys Group, warmly thanks Mr. Gilles Michel for his key role in the Group's growth since 2011, for the creation of associated value, as well as for the quality of his support during the recent months.

The Board of Directors is pleased that Mr. Patrick Kron has accepted to join the Group as Chairman of the Board. Mr. Patrick Kron is currently President of Truffle Capital, a venture capital firm specializing in BioMedTech and Digital and of PKC&I, a consulting firm. He is a member of the Board of Directors of Sanofi (France), of Lafargeholcim (Switzerland) and of Elval Halcor (Greece). He sits at the Supervisory Board of Segula Technologies (France).

Mr. Patrick Kron was Chief Executive Officer and then Chairman & Chief Executive Officer of Alstom (2003- 2016). Previously he was Chairman of the Management Board of Imerys (1998-2002) after having held operational and management responsibilities within the Pechiney Group (1984-1997).

Annex: Biography of Mr. Patrick Kron

Mr. Patrick Kron is 66 years-old, French Citizen, graduate from Ecole Polytechnique and the Paris Ecole des Mines.

Mr. Patrick Kron started his career in the French Ministry of Industry in 1979. From 1984 to 1988, he held operational responsibilities in the Pechiney group before becoming a Member of its Executive Committee and holding senior managerial positions from 1993 to 1997. From 1998 to 2002, Mr. Patrick Kron was Chairman of the Management Board of Imerys.

Appointed in July 2001 as an independent Director in the Alstom Board, he became Chief Executive Officer of Alstom in January 2003 and Chairman & Chief Executive Officer in March 2003. He left Alstom in January 2016 after completion of the disposal of the Energy assets to General Electric and an associated share buy-back.

Mr. Patrick Kron created in February 2016 a consulting company PKC&I. In November 2016, he joined Truffle Capital, a capital firm specialized in BioMedTech and Digital, as Chairman of this firm.

Mr. Patrick Kron is a Board Member of three listed companies - Sanofi, LafargeHolcim (Switzerland) and Elvalhalcor (Greece) – and sits in the Supervisory Board of Segula Technologies.

Mr. Patrick Kron has been awarded the "Légion d'Honneur (Chevalier)" in September 2004 and the "Ordre National du Mérite (Officier)" in November 2007.
