Eiffage, through its German subsidiary Eiffage Infra-Bau, has been awarded by Deutsche Bahn the last contract for renovating the Oldenburg-Wilhelmshaven railway line in Lower Saxony, Germany. The contract, realized through a consortium led by Eiffage, covers a 10-kilometre section between Oldenburg and Rastede. Eiffage will be handling almost €117 million of the total €151 million of planned works.
In addition to the comprehensive refurbishment of the tracks, the consortium's teams will be in charge of earthworks, bridges and tunnels, level crossings and noise barriers, all without interrupting rail traffic, which will be diverted to an adjacent track. As the worksite lies within a dense urban area, dedicated tracks will also be used to carry materials.
The works will be completed in 57 months for delivery in 2024.
This new contract reaffirms Deutsche Bahn's trust in the Eiffage Group. Of the six contracts that made up the programme, five were awarded to the consortium led by Eiffage. One of these was delivered in 2018, and three to be completed in 2021. Ultimately, the consortium will have completed more than €300 million of works in the renovation of this line.
Eiffage is one of Europe's leading construction and concessions companies. The Group's activities are organised around the following business lines: construction, real estate and urban development, civil engineering, metal, roads, energy and concessions. Thanks to the experience of more than 70,400 employees, Eiffage generated revenues of €16.6 billion in 2018, of which almost 26% was outside France.
