Carrefour has received notification of the Ministry of the Economy's intervention in a dispute initiated by the Carrefour franchisee association, which has now been made public.

Carrefour vigorously contests the Ministry of the Economy's grievances regarding the management of its franchise network, as well as the totally disproportionate nature of the fine, which can only be decided by the court to which the case is referred.

The Ministry is intervening in a dispute that began several months ago, without providing any new information on the merits.

The Group has full confidence in its ability to demonstrate the validity of its contracts and the balance of its relationships with its partners. The amount of the fine is clearly unfounded, given the impact of the contractual clauses under discussion.

A minority of franchisees who disagree with Carrefour have unsuccessfully challenged the attractiveness and growth of the model that the Group has built up with its partners in several disputes brought before different courts.

Every year, this system enables entrepreneurs to open 250 stores with Carrefour Proximity and attracts more than 6,000 prospective franchisees.

Carrefour will continue to defend this model with confidence, for the benefit of its entire network and the thousands of employees who work there.
