SinterCast finishes 2007 with new orders and increased production

  • Expanded production capability ordered by customers in China, Germany and Mexico
  • Start of production of four new SinterCast-CGI components
  • Continued strong series production and orders for Sampling Cups

In preparation for increased series production activities, three of SinterCast's foundry customers have ordered additional Sampling Modules (SAMs). The new SAMs can be integrated into the existing flexible System 2000 hardware platform to effectively double the production capacity. The first SAM has been installed at the Da Shiang Precision foundry in China to support the planned high volume production of exhaust manifolds and turbocharger housings. The second SAM has been installed at the Halberg foundry in Germany to support continued increases in the production volume of the CGI cylinder block for the popular Audi 4.2 litre V8 diesel engine. Finally, the Cifunsa foundry in Mexico has also committed to order an additional SAM to support new CGI series production programmes that are currently in the prototyping and pre-production phases. The Cifunsa SAM is expected to be shipped before year-end. The total value of the three SAM upgrades is in excess of SEK 1 million.

Four new SinterCast-CGI components have begun series production during the fourth quarter of 2007. These components are already being used in commercial vehicles and passenger vehicles, both in the core cylinder block and head sector, and for other components. Although the series production has already begun, authorisation has not yet been received to specifically announce details of the programmes.

Following the record series production volume during October 2007, series production in November again exceeded an annualised rate of 500,000 Engine Equivalents per year, and December 2007 has thus far resulted in the shipment of 4,700 Sampling Cups. Sampling Cup shipments provide an indication of future series production activities. December's shipments are the second highest monthly volume in SinterCast's history.

Dr Steve Dawson, President & CEO of SinterCast said: "The growth trends continue to be very positive for SinterCast. We have achieved most of our targets for 2007 and the progress of our technology and market activities has been rewarded in both the customer market and the share market. We will continue to focus on technical development and customer support as we look forward to new System 2000 installations, new SinterCast-CGI product applications, and new series production programmes coming on-stream during 2008."
