NCC to construct the new Pedagogikum institution in Uppsala for SEK 180 million

NCC Construction Sweden has been commissioned to build the new pedagogical institution, Pedagogikum, for the University of Uppsala. The customer is Akademiska Hus and the assignment is valued at approximately SEK 180 million. The new institution is scheduled to be ready for occupancy in November 2009.

The new premises will total 25,500 square meters of floor space divided into four buildings with stucco-like façades. The buildings will be connected by transparent glass passages and the entrance will also be glassed in.

The order of SEK 180 million includes structural supplementary work and coordination responsibility for the installations to be procured for the project. NCC was previously awarded the tender pertaining to foundation and civil-engineering work as well as structural construction work.

Akademiska Hus is already planning the second phase with two wings comprising a total of 10,000 square meters of floor space, but no decision has been taken on this matter.

The order will be recorded in the first quarter of 2008. The first works commenced as early as April 2007.
