SinterCast establishes Representation Office in China

  • "SinterCast AB Shanghai Representative Office" established in China
  • Dr Frank (X F) Zhang appointed General Manager China
  • Shanghai office active as of 13 March 2008

As an integral step in SinterCast's commitment to the Chinese foundry and automotive industries, SinterCast has established a new representation office in Shanghai: "SinterCast AB Shanghai Representation Office". Active from 13 March 2008, SinterCast's local office will provide technical and commercial support to SinterCast's current customers and potential development partners in China as the domestic demand for high quality Compacted Graphite Iron develops. The office will be headed by Dr Frank (Xiang Feng) Zhang, General Manager – China. Dr Zhang, a Chinese national, obtained a Bachelor´s degree in Applied Physics, Mechanics and Mathematics degree from China's prestigious Tongji University and Masters of Applied Science and PhD degrees in process metallurgy from the University of Toronto in Canada. Dr Zhang brings more than 20 years of cast iron foundry experience to SinterCast's Chinese launch, with an emphasis on liquid iron process control and quality control.

"The SinterCast team has successfully made the first installation of its process control technology in China and the SinterCast brand is widely accepted in the Chinese foundry and OEM communities as the world's leading CGI technology" said Dr Frank Zhang, SinterCast's General Manager – China. "Following my initial visit to SinterCast's first series production partner, Da Shiang Precision in Tianjin, and to the potential commercial vehicle development partners in China, I am convinced that the timing is right for SinterCast to establish a permanent presence in China".

"As the largest manufacturer of commercial vehicles in the world, and with upcoming Euro IV emissions legislation, China's heavy-duty diesel engine market will require reliable high volume production capability for Compacted Graphite Iron" said Dr Steve Dawson, President & CEO of SinterCast. "I have known Dr Zhang for more than 20 years and I look forward to working together with him as we begin series production at Da Shiang and bring SinterCast's CGI experience and know-how to the Chinese market.
