PRESS RELEASE from NCC

NCC to build road junction in Oslo

NCC Construction Norway has entered into an agreement with the Norwegian Public Roads Administration concerning the construction of roads and bridges comprising part of the Sinsen-Ulven project in Oslo. Work will commence in late May and is scheduled for completion in August 2010. The order is worth approximately SEK 335 million.

"NCC was awarded the contract because we were able to present a superior organization and plan for its implementation, compared with what our competitors could manage. This enhances our belief that we are doing the right things and we will now focus determinedly on proving to the Norwegian Public Roads Administration that it has selected the right business partner," says Håkon Tjomsland, district manager at NCC's Civil Engineering Region.

Considered nationwide, NCC is the second largest contractor used by the Norwegian Public Roads Administration.

The work will be conducted in what is one of the most heavily trafficked areas of Norway, which is passed by more than 100,000 vehicles per day in several directions. The area includes both throughways and busy multilane local thoroughfares.

"Implementation will require particular planning because we must ensure that road traffic, subway services and railway traffic are disturbed as little as possible," Håkon Tjomsland emphasizes.

The assignment includes the improvement and new laying of a two-kilometer stretch of road with advanced technical installations. Other features are a 170-meter-long concrete bridge over the subway track, a 75-meter-long steel bridge and a 29-meter-long concrete bridge, where the railway crosses a 100-meter-high concrete bed upon which the road will rest. The contract also includes some demolition work.

At most, 80-90 employees will be engaged in the project, which will be registered among orders during the second quarter of 2008.
