Stena Bulk President, Shipping Profile of the Year

The Swedish media association Göta Älvklubben has chosen a "Shipping Profile of the Year" every year since 1995. The aim is to draw attention to some of all the people who work in the shipping industry in Sweden and thus make the general public aware of what is happening in the maritime sector. During the year, the person chosen must have distinguished him or herself with new ideas, good entrepreneurship, a well-defined vision or in some other way have exemplified the driving force in today's Swedish shipping.

Ulf G. Ryder, President & CEO of Stena Bulk AB, has been chosen as Shipping Profile 2008. The association writes:

"As president of the tanker shipping company Stena Bulk, Ulf G. Ryder is a forceful and energetic ideas man who has promoted both the environment and profitability at the same time as he is a colourful and inspiring profile in innumerable shipping-related contexts". Ulf Ryder was presented with the award at a ceremony in Gothenburg on 3 December.

Stena Bulk AB was established in 1982 and Ulf G. Ryder, then 29 years old, was brought in to start up the bulk and tanker business in the Stena Group.

With offices in six countries, Stena Bulk is one of the world's leading tanker shipping companies. Its resources include a design department, which enables the company to provide its customers with innovative solutions that meet their transportation and logistics needs. The company controls a fleet of around 70 tankers and is active in every segment of the tanker market. Stena Bulk is also responsible for the marketing and operation of Concordia Maritime's fleet. In 2007, sales totalled SEK 4.5 billion
