Telespazio deploy Net Insight's Nimbra platform for a multiservice video contibution network in Italy

Stockholm, Sweden – Net Insight, leading developer of efficient and scalable media transport solutions for media, IP and QoS critical broadcast networks, has received an order from Telespazio S.p.A for a multiservice video contibution network in Italy.

Telespazio, member of the Space Alliance between Finmeccanica and Thales, is a world leader in satellite services. The Rome-based company employs around 1,700 staff and operates a network of four space centres and 25 sites spread all over the world. Since 1960, Telespazio has supported the development of television through the provision of technologies for the broadcasting, distribution and transport of satellite signals. Telespazio covers more than 90% of the Italian satellite television and radio market, through the largest national networks, including RAI Radiotelevisione Italiana, Mediaset and Sky Italia, as well as international broadcasters such as CNN and Al Jazeera.

To extend the capabilities of its Broadcast Services, Telespazio will deploy Net Insight's Nimbra platform to link several sites in Italy with mission critical video services such as ASI video and Ethernet data. The compact and yet powerful Nimbra 360 switch offers a flexible and cost-effective solution for delivering advanced multimedia services in broadcast and media networks. Telespzio will also implement the Nimbra Vision for efficient network management.

The Nimbra equipment will be delivered in the first quarter 2009.
