BOLOGNA AIRPORT: ONE MILLION PASSENGERS IN OCTOBER, AGAIN It's the seventh consecutive month since the beginning of the year

Another month with one million passengers for Bologna Airport. In October too, following April, May, June, July, August, and September, Marconi passengers recorded a six-digit result, reaching 1,039,284 units, with an increase of 3.5% compared to the same month in 2024. It is the first time in the airport's history that seven consecutive months have exceeded the one-million mark.

In detail, international flight passengers totaled 784,998 (+3.7% compared to October 2024), while domestic flight passengers were 254,286 (+2.9% compared to the same month in 2024). Aircraft movements amounted to 7,345 (+1.8%), while freight reached 4,115 tons, showing a decrease of 3.3%.

The "most flown" destinations in October 2025 were, in order: Catania, Tirana, Barcelona, Palermo, Paris Charles de Gaulle, Istanbul, Bucharest Otopeni, Madrid, Cagliari, and Brindisi. The busiest day of the month was Sunday, October 5, with 39,413 passengers between arrivals and departures.

In the first ten months of the year, Marconi's total passengers amounted to 9,570,658, up 2.5% compared to the same period in 2024. With this result, Bologna Airport has already surpassed, two months in advance, the total annual passengers of 2019. Aircraft movements in the January–October 2025 period were 67,633, up 1.0% compared to the corresponding period in 2024.

Freight transported in the first ten months of 2025 totaled 36,809 tons, down (-3.5%) compared to 2024.

Aeroporto Guglielmo Marconi di Bologna, classified as a "strategic airport" in the centre-north area of the National Airports Plan prepared by the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport, recorded in 2024 10.8 million passengers, ranking as the seventh biggest Italian airport by number of passengers (Source: Assaeroporti – Aeroporti2030). Located in the heart of the Emilian food valley and the automotive and packaging industrial districts, the airport has a catchment area of about 11 million inhabitants and around 47,000 companies, with a strong propensity to exports and internationalisation and with commercial expansion policies to Eastern Europe and Asia.

As for airport infrastructure, the airport has among its strategic objectives in the next few years an important development plan that mainly concerns the expansion of the terminal, particularly in the gate area. The company's aim is to make Bologna Airport one of the most modern and functional in Italy, an important gateway to the city and region.
