On Monday, August 30, construction of the NCC project Triangeln, located in the Kaninen block in central Malmö, will commence. The project comprises shopping mall, office and housing premises and is scheduled for completion in 2014. The project has a construction contract value in the billion Swedish krona region and will be operated on a proprietary basis. Half of the cost will registered among orders in the third quarter of 2010.
The project will be implemented in several phases, with the garage and retail spaces representing the first phase, with Easter 2013 as the estimated moving in period. The new retail area will be integrated into the current Triangeln shopping center.
A total of four properties comprising housing and offices will be built above the retail facilities. Occupancy of the properties will occur between 2013 and 2014.
The offices, as well as stores and housing, will be characterized by low energy consumption and will be climate declared and environmentally classed, according to BREEAM (Very Good level), GreenBuilding, GreenLight and Miljöbyggprogram Syd (Environmental Construction Program, South).
The Triangeln area is centrally located and has excellent communications thanks to the City Tunnel's new south station, where it is estimated that about 40,000 people will arrive every day. In addition, construction of a major bus junction is planned at Triangeln and a total of 100,000 people are estimated to move around the area on a daily basis.
