NCC secures order worth SEK 300 million to construct environmentally certified mail terminal in Hallsberg

NCC Construction Sweden is to build an environmentally certified mail-sorting terminal combined with an associated loading bay, parking facilities, connecting routes and earth works. The area is located at the Hallsberg railyard. The order is worth approximately SEK 300 million and will be registered during the second quarter. The client is Posten Meddelande AB.

The contract is for an approximately 28,000-square-meter terminal with an associated land area of about 83,000 square meters. Trains will be able to dock at the terminal building directly from the western trunk line and up to 65 trucks and smaller vehicles will serve the terminal each day.

"We have focused on the environment through such features as minimizing the building's energy consumption. We are also using a virtual construction concept, which facilitates efficient coordination and better communication, thus enhancing the cost-effectiveness of the project," says Henrik Landelius, Business Manager, NCC Construction, Western Region.

The building will be certified in accordance with Green Building and heating will be based on an underground thermal heating solution.

This turnkey project will commence immediately and is scheduled for completion in December 2012. NCC will employ between 80 and 100 people in the project.
