Press release 16 January 2012
The Norwegian Competition Authority has decided to continue its investigation into Mekonomen's acquisition of the automotive spare-parts chain, Meca. On 12 October 2011, Mekonomen signed an agreement to acquire Meca, which is a well-known automotive spare-parts chain with a solid position in Sweden and Norway.
The Competition Authority's decision means that more time is required to evaluate the transaction, but does not mean that a decision has been made on the issue. Mekonomen has initiated a dialogue with the Competition Authority to clarify what additional information is required in order to make a decision on the issue.
