Barend Bots

Career

Barend Bots has over 25 years of experience in international healthcare. From December 2005 to May 2018, he was CEO of Korian Belgium. He then took on the role of chairman of the board of directors, a position he held until July 2023.

At the same time, from 2018 to 2023, he was executive vice president of International Development at Korian Group in France, where he was responsible for launching Korian's healthcare activities in the Netherlands, the United Kingdom and Spain.

Some professional career highlights:

• In 1986, he decided to start his medical career in Africa, in a provincial hospital in Zambia. Later on, he was also responsible for the implementation and financing of a national medical development project.
• In 1992, he returned to Belgium, where he started working at Organon Teknika, part of the Akzo-Nobel group, responsible for hospital products. He was later appointed Manager Medical Services - Pharmaceuticals Int'l.
• In 2000, he made a career switch and joined KBC Securities as Senior Advisor. In this role, he provided scientific and management advice on the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industry.
• Later, as investment manager at Rendex Partners, he represented the investor on the boards of directors of various subsidiaries.
• In 2005, he became CEO/managing director of Senior Living Group (SLG) (later Korian), after which he joined the Korian General Management Board in 2013.
• In 2018, he took on the role of executive vice president International Development and helped launch Korian's care activities in the Netherlands, the United Kingdom and Spain.
• Even after his retirement, Barend Bots remains active within Korian and, until 1 May 2025, has an active mandate on the Supervisory Board of Korian Deutschland.

Education

Barend Bots holds several academic degrees. He obtained a Doctorate in Medicine, Surgery and Obstetrics from the Catholic University of Leuven, followed by a degree in Supplementary Business Studies from the University of Antwerp and completed his education with an Executive MBA from the Flanders Business School.
