Another month at "high altitude" for Bologna Airport. Even in August, in fact, after April, May, June and July, Marconi passengers recorded a result of more than one million, reaching 1,108,983 units, with a reduction of 0.9% on the same month of 2024. This result, which places August 2025 in third place among the busiest months ever at the Emilian airport, is essentially attributable to the status of "coordinated airport" with works in progress inside the terminal for the Summer season 2025.
In detail, passengers on international flights were 834,485 (-0.8% on August 2024) while passengers on domestic flights were 274,498 (-1.3% on the same month of 2024). Movements were 7,547 (-2.6%), while freight were 2,675 tons, with a decrease of 12.9%.
The preferred destinations for August 2025 were, in order: Catania, Tirana, Barcelona, Cagliari, Olbia, Palermo, Bucharest Otopeni, Brindisi, Istanbul and Madrid, in line with what was also recorded in July. The busiest day of the month was Sunday 17th, with 40,022 passengers arriving and departing.
In the January-August period, the total passengers of the Marconi were 7,508,516, with an increase of 3.2% on the same period of 2024, while movements were 53,167, with an increase of 1.5% on the corresponding period of 2024.
Freight in the first eight months of 2025 were 29,000 tons, down (-3.3%) on the same period of 2024.

Aeroporto Guglielmo Marconi di Bologna, classified as a "strategic airport" in the centre-north area of the National Airports Plan prepared by the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport, recorded in 2024 10.8 million passengers, ranking as the seventh biggest Italian airport by number of passengers (Source: Assaeroporti – Aeroporti2030). Located in the heart of the Emilian food valley and the automotive and packaging industrial districts, the airport has a catchment area of about 11 million inhabitants and around 47,000 companies, with a strong propensity to exports and internationalisation and with commercial expansion policies to Eastern Europe and Asia.
As for airport infrastructure, the airport has among its strategic objectives in the next few years an important development plan that mainly concerns the expansion of the terminal, particularly in the gate area. The company's aim is to make Bologna Airport one of the most modern and functional in Italy, an important gateway to the city and region.
