Veidekke: To build West Link subproject in Gothenburg

Veidekke has been commissioned by the Swedish Transport Administration to build

the Stora Hamnkanalen tunnel, a part of the West Link Project in central

Gothenburg. The contract value was estimated at SEK 280 million as at the start

of the procurement process, before completion of the design.

The contract comprises the construction of a concrete (approx. 54 metres) and

rock (approx. 16 metres) tunnel, which will cross Stora Hamnkanalen close to the

canal's Göta älv outlet. Work on the project starts immediately and is expected

to be completed in summer 2029.

"We are very happy to have been awarded another Västlänken subcontract. This is

testimony to the solid cooperation established with the Swedish Transport

Administration and to the expertise of Veidekke's project organisation to

execute such complex projects," says Fredrik Indevall, regional manager at

Veidekke Anläggning Väst.

Stora Hamnkanalen is the fourth and final construction contract in the Haga

stage of the West Link Project, which will provide Gothenburg with a coherent

commuter and regional railway network.
