Şişecam Relocates Handmade Glassware Production in Denizli to Kırklareli

Şişecam has decided to relocate its handmade glassware production operations in Denizli to its Kırklareli Facility. With a streamlined production structure and improved logistics, Şişecam aims to enhance efficiency with this relocation decision.

Şişecam, a global player in the glass and chemicals industries, has announced the strategic relocation of its handmade glassware production operations from Denizli to its existing facility in Kırklareli. This move aims to create a more sustainable and efficient production model by leveraging operational scale and logistical advantages.

An Integrated and Profitable Model

Şişecam has been producing handmade glassware in Denizli since 1995, continuing a tradition that began in 1935 in Paşabahçe, İstanbul. In this labor-intensive process, rising costs and increasing competition have made it necessary to explore more efficient working alternatives for Şişecam's iconic hand production operations. As part of the decision taken, hand production will be relocated to the Kırklareli Facility in a way that leverages cost and scale advantages.

As a result of the ongoing efforts, and with full consideration of employee preferences and comprehensive support, at least half of the 297 employees in Denizli are expected to continue working at Şişecam's Kırklareli Glassware Facility. Transfer requests from other employees to different Şişecam locations will also be evaluated based on feasibility. In this way, skilled craftsmanship and qualified labor will be preserved.

Şişecam CEO Can Yücel stated: "Navigating today's challenging market conditions requires us to operate with agility and efficiency, while continuing to protect Şişecam's heritage and value. Denizli Facility has long represented our deep respect for handmade glass artistry. However, evolving market dynamics and operational realities have led us to reassess and optimize our production model.

With this transition, we are redesigning our Kırklareli Glassware Facility to also support handmade operations, ensuring we preserve the artisanal quality of our products. This integrated approach will allow us to continue producing our Paşabahçe and Nude collections with the same care and attention to detail- combining the mastery of our

artisans with the capabilities of advanced manufacturing.

Our Kırklareli Facility, where some of Şişecam's most distinguished creations continue to be produced, will welcome our colleagues who have contributed to Şişecam through their dedicated work in the Denizli Facility. We are fully committed to mobilizing all available resources to ensure this transition reflects their preferences."
