According to the 2013 agreement that put an end to the many years of disputes concerning coal deliveries from Vršanská uhelná, the Poþerady power plant has been sold, effective 2 January 2024. In exchange for the end-of-life power plant, handed over to SEV.en (formerly Czech Coal), ýEZ will get the fixed amount of CZK 2 billion. ýEZ had until the end of 2019 to exercise its last option to revoke the sale. With a view to further steps of the European Commission, increasingly restricting coal utilisation in relation to a transition to an emission-free economy, ýEZ chose not to exercise the option.
