Consent to sign an agreement on nuclear energy development
The Management Board of KGHM Polska Miedź S.A. ("the Company") announcesthat today it consented to sign a tripartite agreement between KGHMPolska Miedź S.A., NuScale Power LLC, a producer involved in thedevelopment of reactors using small modular reactor (SMR) technology,and PBE Molecule Sp. z o.o. Sp. k., an advisory company, with respect topreparations to advance an investment involving the construction ofnuclear energy sources ("the Agreement"). The Agreement will be signedon 23 September 2021 and will be in force to 23 September 2024.
The Agreement involves the development of nuclear technology in the formof repowering current coal-fired turbines or the development of newnuclear energy sources in the form of SMRs - from 1 to 12 modules, eachgenerating 77 MW.
Completion of the nuclear energy development project is expected by theend of 2030, however the Company assumes that the first nuclear reactorwill begin operations in 2029.
Legal basis: Art. 17 (1) of MAR (Regulation (EU) No 596/2014 of theEuropean Parliament and of the Council of 16 April 2014 on market abuse(market abuse regulation) and repealing Directive 2003/6/EC of theEuropean Parliament and of the Council and Commission Directives2003/124/EC, 2003/125/EC and 2004/72/EC (Official Journal of theEuropean Union dated 12 June 2014, no. L 173/1).
