Simonds Farsons Cisk plc announces €27 million investment in Beer Packaging Facility

At a press conference held at the Brewery, Mriehel, this morning in the presence of the Honourable Prime Minister, Dr Joseph Muscat, the Chairman of Farsons, Mr Louis A Farrugia, announced that the Board of Directors of the parent company had approved the investment of €27 million in a new beer packaging facility. The construction of the facility will start in April 2014 and be completed by April 2016.

The objective of this investment is to ensure that Farsons' beer packaging facilities remain competitive in today's market place by serving the important local market with packages that are relevant to contemporary consumer preferences, and to allow the Group to meet its objectives of increasing its exports of beer and non-alcoholic products to nearby markets.

The new beer packaging facility will deploy modern technology, and will have both a glass line and a canning line, bringing about improved quality and productivity, along with increased efficiency through automation and lower energy and water consumption. The proposed building housing these lines will also accommodate all related raw and packaging material storage requirements.
