Co-founder of BigAir Group Limited and Entrepreneur Mr Jason Ashton joins Webcentral Board as Non-Executive Director

Webcentral Limited ( Webcentral ) (ASX: WCG) is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr Jason Ashton to the Webcentral Board as a Non-Executive Director, following the successful implementation of the merger between Webcentral and 5G Networks Limited ( 5GN ) on 23 November 2021.

Mr Ashton will provide valuable strategic industry advice and assist in driving the growth and acquisition strategy of Webcentral. Mr Ashton has been an influential member of the Internet and telecommunications industry for more than 25 years and a successful entrepreneur, co-founding and building two Internet infrastructure businesses – Magna Data Pty Ltd in 1993 and BigAir Group Limited ( BigAir Group ), a company formerly listed on the ASX, in 2002.

BigAir Group was established in 2002 as a network, cloud and managed services business. The Group built a national high speed network across the largest cities in Australia and a large number of regional centres, offering high speed data and broadband services using next generation technologies. In 2016, after numerous acquisitions, the BigAir Group reached revenues of over $79m in 2016, until it was sold to Superloop Limited ( Superloop ) (ASX: SLC).

Further, Mr Ashton has extensive experience as a director of publicly listed telecommunications companies. Mr Ashton was appointed to the Board of Superloop as an Executive Director from 2016 to 2018 and was a Non-Executive Director of 5GN from 2019 until the successful merger with Webcentral.

Mr Ashton holds a Bachelor of Science from the University of Sydney and a Master of Commerce from the University of NSW.
