SUMMARY OF THE CINKARNA CELJE SUSTAINABILITY STRATEGY UNTIL 2030 COMPARED TO 2021

The strategy focuses on important sustainability issues identified through a double materiality assessment. Significant information on these matters will be disclosed publicly in compliance with CSRD requirements.

Cinkarna Celje aims to become an efficient and sustainability-oriented company within the chemical industry, committed to reducing environmental impacts, managing resources responsibly, and enhancing social responsibility and transparency by 2030.

By reducing greenhouse gas emissions and efficient energy management, we will contribute to a low-carbon future. Expanding our product portfolio will support the circular economy and improve waste management practices.

The production volume will enable business growth and, consequently, the development of opportunity portfolios that, despite increasing, will enable the reduction of waste and pollution.

Our commitment is that as we grow, we will:

• reduce the carbon footprint by increasing the use of renewable energy sources and improving energy efficiency;
• increase water recycling and reduce dependence on natural resources;
• continuously reduce emissions to air and water and manage waste responsibly;
• promote innovation in green technologies and the development of products that contribute to the sustainable use of resources;
• provide a safe, inclusive, and supportive work environment where employees are committed to achieving the best results.
• ensure social security for employees;
• establish a consultation channel (Co-Council) with affected communities; integrate their input into decision-making processes, implement measures and report transparently;
• support sports, cultural and other social activities in affected communities, participate in projects that improve safety and infrastructure;
• upgrade corporate governance and corporate culture, including the implementation of lean manufacturing systems;
• educate and raise awareness among employees to actively contribute to achieving this strategy.

We will work closely with suppliers and partners to uphold high ethical and sustainability standards, thereby ensuring a sustainable value chain focused on reducing the environmental impact and promoting socially responsible business practices.

In this way, we will create a business model that is not only focused on economic growth, but also on reducing the negative impact on the environment, which is essential for longterm success and competitiveness. Sustainability will be part of our decision-making in all future investments and innovations.
