Offshore construction activities on Empire Wind 1 suspended

Sif continues manufacturing of foundations

Empire Offshore Wind LLC has contracted Sif for the supply of 54 monopiles and transition pieces to form the Empire Offshore Wind farm 1. The first monopile was completed in November 2024 and recently the first six of 54 foundations have departed Rotterdam for transit to New York.

On 17 April, Empire Offshore Wind LLC has informed Sif and the market that it will halt offshore construction in waters of the outer continental shelf for the Empire Wind project following a notification from the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM).

Equinor's press release: Equinor suspends offshore construction activities for the Empire Wind project

Sif will continue to manufacture foundations for Empire Offshore Wind LLC according to the contract. Sif and the Empire Wind 1 project team will continue the pragmatic and constructive partnership cooperation on this project and dialogue on effects of changes to the contract.
