BOLOGNA AIRPORT: OVER 800,000 PASSENGERS IN MARCH, UP OF 10.3% ON MARCH 2024

Another month of growth for Bologna Airport: in March there were 815,176 passengers, up of 10.3% on the same month in 2024. It is the first time in the history of Marconi that passengers in March exceed 800,000.

In detail, both passengers on domestic flights (189,738, +11.3% on March 2024) and passengers on international flights (625,438, +9.9% on the same month last year) are growing. Movements, at 5,867, also recorded an increase on 2024 (+9.0%), while freight, equal to 4,087 tons, increased by 9.3%.

The favorite destinations for March 2025 were: Catania, Barcelona, Tirana, Madrid, Palermo, Istanbul, Paris De Gaulle, Bucharest, Rome Fiumicino and London Heathrow.

In the first quarter of the year, total passengers were 2,133,137, up of 9.5% on the same period in 2024, while movements were 15,722, up of 6.1% on the first three months of 2024.

The freight in the quarter were 10,854 tons, practically unchanged (-0.1%) on the same period in 2024.

Aeroporto Guglielmo Marconi di Bologna, classified as a "strategic airport" in the centre-north area of the National Airports Plan prepared by the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport, recorded in 2024 10.8 million passengers, ranking as the seventh biggest Italian airport by number of passengers (Source: Assaeroporti – Aeroporti2030). Located in the heart of the Emilian food valley and the automotive and packaging industrial districts, the airport has a catchment area of about 11 million inhabitants and around 47,000 companies, with a strong propensity to exports and internationalisation and with commercial expansion policies to Eastern Europe and Asia.

As for airport infrastructure, the airport has among its strategic objectives in the next few years an important development plan that mainly concerns the expansion of the terminal, particularly in the gate area. The company's aim is to make Bologna Airport one of the most modern and functional in Italy, an important gateway to the city and region.
