ANNOUNCEMENT

Banco BPI, S.A. (BPI) informs that the portuguese Competition, Regulation and Supervision Court (TCRS) released today its ruling in case no. 225/15.4YUSTR-W, relating to the challenge of the fine, applied by the Portuguese Competition Authority (AdC) in September 2019, to a group of banks, including BPI, for alleged infringement of competition law.

This sentence, which is a first instance decision, maintained the fine of €30 million imposed by AdC on BPI.

BPI will analyze in detail the content of the TCRS ruling, following which it intends to exercise its rights of defense, including by filing an appeal with the Lisbon Court of Appeal.

BPI reiterates its conviction that competition law has not been infringed and no harm whatsoever has been caused to its customers.
