FINAL DIVIDEND FOR THE YEAR ENDED 31 MARCH 2017

SCRIP ALTERNATIVE

SSE plc announces that a total of 27,670 shareholders have elected to receive the final dividend for the year ended 31 March 2017 of 63.9 pence per ordinary share in respect of 507,866,762 ordinary shares in the form of Scrip dividend.  This will result in a reduction in final dividend cash funding of £324,526,861.

A total of 23,497,675 new ordinary shares, fully paid, will be issued on 22 September 2017, representing an increase of 2.35% on the issued share capital on dividend record date of 28 July 2017.  The relevant Scrip Reference Share Price was 1,381 pence per ordinary share.
