ISSUE OF SHARES FROM TREASURY

Schroder Asian Total Return Investment Company plc ("the Company") announces that it has issued 100,000 ordinary shares of 5p each from treasury as follows: 50,000 shares at a price of 294.5 pence per share on 15 May 2017 and 50,000 shares at a price of 295.5 pence per share on 16 May 2017.

Following this issue, the Company's issued share capital consists of 76,449,141 ordinary shares of 5p each and an additional 8,755,671 ordinary shares of 5p each held in treasury.  Accordingly, the total number of voting rights in the Company is 76,449,141.

The above figure may be used by shareholders as the denominator for the calculations by which they will determine if they are required to notify their interest in, or a change to their interest in, the Company under the Financial Conduct Authority's Disclosure Guidance and Transparency Rules.
