INTERIM DIVIDEND FOR THE YEAR ENDED 31 MARCH 2017

SCRIP ALTERNATIVE

SSE plc announces that a total of 27,954 shareholders have elected to receive the interim dividend for the year ended 31 March 2017 of 27.4 pence per ordinary share in respect of 347,858,145 ordinary shares in the form of Scrip dividend.  This will result in a reduction in interim dividend cash funding of £95,313,132.

A total of 6,324,986 new ordinary shares, fully paid, will be issued on 17 March 2017, representing an increase of 0.62% on the issued share capital on dividend record date of 20 January 2017.  The relevant Scrip Reference Share Price was 1,507 pence per ordinary share.
