DIRECTORATE CHANGE
The Company announces that Mr Ian Tyler, the Company's Senior Independent Director, resigned as a director of the Company with effect from 21 February 2017.
Ian Tyler was appointed as an independent non-executive director and Chairman of Al Noor Hospitals Group plc ("Al Noor") on 5 June 2013 prior to its successful IPO and listing on the London Stock Exchange on 21 June 2013. In 2015 he was instrumental in leading this group through the combination with Mediclinic International Limited. Subsequent to the combination, he was appointed as the Senior Independent Director of Mediclinic International plc on 15 February 2016.
Mr Desmond Smith has been appointed as the Senior Independent Director, in the place of Ian Tyler. Desmond Smith was appointed an independent non-executive director of Mediclinic International Limited in 2008 and Lead Independent Director in 2010. He was appointed an independent non-executive director of the Company subsequent to the combination of Al Noor and Mediclinic International Limited. Desmond Smith is Chairman of Mediclinic's Audit and Risk Committee and a member of the Nomination Committee. He is also Chairman of the Sanlam Group and the Reinsurance Group of America (South Africa).
This announcement is made in accordance with the requirement of LR 9.6.11.
Mediclinic's primary listing is on the Main Market of the LSE, with secondary listings on the JSE in South Africa and on the NSX in Namibia.
