Board Changes

Saga plc (or 'the Company'), the UK's specialist in products and services for life after 50, today announces the resignation of Philip Green from the Board and his position as Senior Independent Non Executive Director ('SID'). He will be replaced as SID by Orna NiChionna, one of the current Non Executive Directors. Philip and Orna both joined the Board during the Company's IPO in 2014; Philip's resignation and Orna's appointment as SID will both be effective 31 March 2017. 

Explaining his decision Philip said: "It has been a pleasure and a privilege to serve on the Board of this excellent company. I have decided to stand down at this time, after almost three years, as I've been asked to Chair another business and I need to be sure I have the time to do this. I wish continued success to the Saga team."

Andrew Goodsell, Saga Chairman, said: "I'd like to thank Philip very much for his contribution to the Saga Board during its first three years as a listed business. Given the opportunity that he has been offered, I fully understand the rationale for his decision. We wish him continued success in the future."

Orna NiChionna. Orna is Senior Independent Non Executive Director and Chair of the remuneration committee of Royal Mail plc, Chair of client service at Eden McCallum, and Deputy Chair of the National Trust.  She sits on Saga's audit, nomination and remuneration committees and chairs its risk committee.  

Commenting on her appointment to the SID role, Andrew Goodsell said: "I am delighted that Orna has agreed to take over from Philip as SID. She has a good feel for what we do as a business, our values, and what's right for our customers, and she has made a strong contribution during her time on the Board."
