FINAL DIVIDEND FOR THE YEAR ENDED 31 MARCH 2016

SCRIP ALTERNATIVE

SSE plc announces that a total of 28,343 shareholders have elected to receive the final dividend for the year ended 31 March 2016 of 62.5 pence per ordinary share in respect of 228,198,482  ordinary shares in the form of Scrip dividend.  This will result in a reduction in final dividend cash funding of £142,624,051.   

A total of 9,395,092 new ordinary shares, fully paid, will be issued on 23 September 2016, representing an increase of 0.93% on the issued share capital on dividend record date of 29 July 2016.  The relevant Scrip Reference Share Price was 1,518 pence per ordinary share.
