INTERIM DIVIDEND FOR THE YEAR ENDED 31 MARCH 2016

SCRIP ALTERNATIVE

SSE plc announces that a total of 28,372 shareholders have elected to receive the interim dividend for the year ended 31 March 2016 of 26.9 pence per ordinary share in respect of 60,571,381 ordinary shares in the form of Scrip dividend. This will result in a reduction in interim dividend cash funding of £16,293,701.

A total of 1,172,973 new ordinary shares, fully paid, will be issued on 18 March 2016, representing an increase of 0.12% on the issued share capital on dividend record date of 22 January 2016. The relevant Scrip Reference Share Price was 1,391 pence per ordinary share.
