Appointment of Non-Executive Director

Direct Line Insurance Group plc ("Direct Line Group") announces that it has today appointed Dr. Richard Ward to the Board as a Non-Executive Director and Senior Independent Director.

Richard is Chairman of Brit Limited, Executive Chairman of Cunningham Lindsey Group, and a Non-Executive Director and Chairman of the Remuneration Committee of Partnership Assurance Group plc. He is also a member of the Prudential Regulation Authority's Practitioner Panel.

Richard was Chief Executive of Lloyd's of London from 2006 to 2013. He was previously Chief Executive, later Vice Chairman, of ICE Futures. He has also been a Non-Executive Director of London Clearing House, a member of the PwC Advisory Board and a member of the Geneva Association.
