TRANSACTION IN OWN SHARES

Close Brothers Group plc announces that it has today purchased 51,500 ordinary shares at an average price of 1475.7 pence.  The highest and lowest price paid for these shares was 1484 pence and 1468 pence, respectively. The shares purchased will all be held as treasury shares for the purpose of satisfying option grants and share awards made under the Company's employee share plans.

Following the purchase of these shares, Close Brothers Group plc holds 954,397 of its ordinary shares in treasury and has 149,680,440 ordinary shares in issue (excluding treasury shares).
