TRANSACTION IN OWN SHARES

Close Brothers Group plc announces that it has today purchased 161,293 ordinary shares at an average price of 1547.26 pence.  The highest and lowest price paid for these shares was 1551 pence and 1546 pence, respectively. The shares purchased will all be held as treasury shares for the purpose of satisfying option grants and share awards made under the Company's employee share plans.

Following the purchase of these shares, Close Brothers Group plc holds 1,310,190 of its ordinary shares in treasury and has 149,324,647 ordinary shares in issue (excluding treasury shares).
