TRANSACTION IN OWN SHARES

Close Brothers Group plc announces that it has today purchased 107,397 ordinary shares at an average price of 1544.8525 pence.  The highest and lowest price paid for these shares was 1560 pence and 1530 pence, respectively. The shares purchased will all be held as treasury shares for the purpose of satisfying option grants and share awards made under the Company's employee share plans.

Following the purchase of these shares, Close Brothers Group plc holds 783,695 of its ordinary shares in treasury and has 149,851,142 ordinary shares in issue (excluding treasury shares).
