Sound Energy Launch - Change of Name

Sound Oil plc, the Mediterranean focused upstream gas company, announces that the previously notified change of the Company's registered name to "Sound Energy plc" has become effective.  The Company's ordinary shares will continue to trade on AIM under the Company's existing TIDM of "SOU" and ISIN and SEDOL numbers will also remain unchanged.

The Company is also pleased to announce that ground works at the onshore Nervesa gas discovery commenced today.  The Sound Energy Launch event, being held in London this afternoon, will include live webcam coverage of initial ground work operations at Nervesa. The webcam coverage will also be accessible through the Company's website. 

The Company's website address, at which the information required pursuant to AIM Rule 26 is available, has changed to www.soundenergyplc.com.
