Product Update

Ruggedised conduction cooled very low power VPX processor board

Concurrent Technologies Plc (the "Company"), a world leading specialist in the design and manufacture of high-end embedded computer products for critical applications in the defence, aerospace, telecommunications, transportation, scientific and industrial markets, is pleased to announce that it is now shipping rugged versions of its previously announced TR D2x/msd processor board based on the low power Intel® Atom™ processor family.

This board scores well in Size, Weight and Power (SWAP) comparisons with previous generation products due to its low power consumption combined with up to four-core processing capability. The rugged conduction cooled variants of the product operate at temperatures between -40°C to +85°C with no degradation in processor or graphics performance and have completed a range of harsh environmental tests. The standard BIOS can optionally be replaced with a customer configurable FastBoot package to provide a fast boot capability in the region of only 3 seconds.

Comprehensive Built-in Test package and a board level security package are also available, the latter providing features designed to prevent access to sensitive data. In addition, TR D2x/msd-RC is the first product from the Company to be available with system management, which is intended to provide uniform management functions for VPX based equipment. These features are expected to appeal particularly to applications where low power is essential, such as battery operated unmanned vehicles, security and battlefield applications.

Glen Fawcett, Managing Director, Concurrent Technologies Plc, commented:

"This is the second generation of rugged products that we have delivered into the market based on Intel® Atom™ technology.  Over the last three years we have invested heavily to be able to provide our customers an enhanced level of application enabling software. By manufacturing our own board level products to IPC-A-610 Class 3 in our own facility we believe we are able to satisfy the demanding needs of customers for defence applications."
