FINAL DIVIDEND FOR THE YEAR ENDED 31 MARCH 2014

SCRIP ALTERNATIVE

SSE plc announces that a total of 29,802 shareholders have elected to receive the final dividend for the year ended 31 March 2014 of 60.7 pence per ordinary share in respect of 286,584,457 ordinary shares in the form of Scrip dividend.  This will result in a reduction in final dividend cash funding of £173,956,765.   

A total of 11,775,169 new ordinary shares, fully paid, will be issued on 19 September 2014, representing an increase of 1.21% on the issued share capital on dividend record date of 25 July 2014.  The relevant Scrip Reference Share Price was 1,477 pence per ordinary share.

NOTIFICATION OF CLOSE PERIOD AND RESULTS

SSE will publish its Notification of Close Period on Monday 29 September 2014 and its results for the six months to that date on 12 November 2014.
