Director Declaration

The Company gives notification that Simon Thompson, Chairman of Tullow Oil plc, is to be appointed as a non-executive Director of Rio Tinto plc, a leading international mining group headquartered in the UK. Rio Tinto plc is listed on the London and New York Stock Exchanges.

He is also to be appointed to the Board of Rio Tinto Limited which is listed on the Australian Securities Exchange.

Both appointments will take effect from 1 April 2014.
