TRANSACTION IN OWN SHARES

Close Brothers Group plc (the 'Company') announces that on 16 October 2013 it transferred 420 ordinary shares of 25 pence each from treasury to participants in its employee share plans.  The transfer price was 547 pence.  Following the transfer of these shares, the Company holds 2,801,449 of its ordinary shares in treasury and has 147,806,963 ordinary shares in issue (excluding treasury shares).
